Permissions Manager is licensed by production instance and each production licence includes up to 3 related non-production instances (for example Dev, UAT, DR).  Enterprise licenses are also available for organisations running more than 2 production Content Suite instances.

Yes. We include up to 2 days installation suppport free of charge for every new customer.  All you need to pay for is any travel expenses if you’d like this done onsite.

Permissions Manager maintains the look and feel of the standard Content Suite. Understanding Permissions Manager will not be a difficult exercise for a user  familiar with Content Suite. The Permissions Manager module introduces unique functionality; the uptake of such functionality should not require more than an hour of training.

Normally no.  Through the Permissions Manager administration pages you can choose whether to allow users to override RM related settings such as Mark Official, but this is not recommended.

No. Permissions Manager obeys all the rules Content Suite applies to permissions and information access.  If you can’t do something, such as see an item or change permissions on an item, you will not be able to do that using Permissions Manager.

In addition we provide settings in the Permissions Manager administration page (available only to the system admin) that allows you to restrict a range of Permissions Manager functions to specific users or groups.  Hence even if someone has Edit Permissions rights on an object, you can for example deny them the ability to use Permissions Manager to replace or change those permissions through the tool.

No. The ‘Replace User’ function allows a new user to step into a role which was previously held by a user who may have left the organisation or moved into another role. However, all historical information such as audit trails and documents which the user has created will remain intact.

Users can be granted rights to objects either explicitly (i.e. as a single user) or by being a member of a group that has those rights.  Membership of groups can be, and often are, nested and that can be several layers deep.

Effective Permissions is the term we use to describe the actual permissions a user or group has on an object as a result of these group memberships.

No. Content Suite does not have a ‘deny’ setting in permissions, unlike for example eDOCS.  As we comply with the standard CS permissions rules we do not provide this additional setting as to do so would risk conflict with business processes and add-on modules.

Yes.

The ability to display permissions in Outlook, for links contained in an email message, is provided by Fastman Permissions Manager for Outlook.

No.  For example, Permissions Manager fully integrates with Brava permissions and any permission changes which are introduced through Records Management. Content Suite objects which introduce an alternate Access Control List (ACL) such as Projects and Tasks Lists are also supported.
